Terms & Conditions.

• One-time purchase, $9.99 USD. The license is yours and the software stays on your Mac.
• You can install MacZones on every Mac you personally own or primarily use. Don't share your license key publicly or resell it.
• The app is provided as is. We try hard to make it solid, but you accept it without warranties.
• Our total liability to you is capped at what you paid us. (See the Limitation section — this is normal for software, but read it.)
• Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. Your statutory consumer rights still apply.
• This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA.

Forming the agreement

• You enter into this agreement when you download, install, activate, or otherwise use MacZones.
• If you are using MacZones on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” refers to both you and the organization.
• You must be old enough to enter a binding contract in your jurisdiction (in most places, 18). MacZones is not directed at children.

What we grant you

• Subject to your compliance with these terms (and, for paid versions, your payment of the applicable fee), we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use MacZones on Macs you personally own or primarily use.
• One license covers one human user. There is no per-device limit — if you own a desktop and a laptop, install it on both.
• Organizations may purchase one license per individual end-user. Contact us for volume arrangements.

Trial period

• MacZones includes a 14-day free trial with full functionality. No payment method is required to start the trial.
• When the trial ends, window-management features stop until a valid license key is activated. Your saved layouts, profiles, sessions, and preferences remain on disk and become available again once you activate.

Activation

• Activation contacts our license server with your license key, a hash of your hardware identifier, and the app version. We use this to mark the license as in use and to detect abuse.
• You may deactivate a Mac (for example, before selling it) by signing out in MacZones → Settings → License, or by emailing us.

You agree not to:

• copy, distribute, sublicense, lease, rent, lend, or resell MacZones or your license key, or post your license key publicly;
• modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of MacZones, except to the limited extent applicable law expressly permits and overrides this restriction;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except where and to the extent applicable law expressly allows it notwithstanding this restriction;
• remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices in the app or its documentation;
• use MacZones to develop a directly competing product, or to scrape, mirror, or republish our website, appcast, or update binaries;
• use MacZones in any way that violates applicable law, infringes anyone's rights, or attempts to bypass our license checks.

Payment processing

• License purchases are handled by Paddle.com Market Limited (“Paddle”), our authorized Merchant of Record. Paddle processes your payment, collects any applicable sales tax or VAT, and provides the receipt.
• Your transaction with Paddle is also governed by Paddle's own checkout buyer terms and privacy notice. We are not a party to that payment contract, but the license you receive is granted by us under these terms.
• Prices are listed in U.S. Dollars unless otherwise displayed at checkout. Paddle may convert and charge in your local currency at its published rates.

Refunds

• Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.
• Nothing in these terms or the Refund Policy limits statutory consumer rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.

• MacZones can download and install updates automatically using the Sparkle framework. You can disable this in MacZones → Settings → Updates.
• We may from time to time add, change, or remove features in the app, or change supported macOS versions, in our reasonable discretion. We do not promise that any particular feature will remain available forever.
• Updates are provided under the same license; the most recent terms apply unless they state otherwise.

• MacZones, including all source code, binaries, designs, icons, copy, and documentation, is and remains the property of JolleyApp. All rights not expressly granted in these terms are reserved.
• The MacZones name and logo are our marks. You may reference the product in honest reviews, articles, and tutorials, but you may not use the marks in a way that implies endorsement or affiliation without our permission.
• Your layouts, zone configurations, hotkey bindings, saved sessions, and any other data you produce while using MacZones are yours. We claim no rights to them.

• MacZones includes open-source components (notably Sparkle, used for updates) which are licensed under their own terms. Those licenses are included with the app or available on request and continue to govern the components they cover.
• If you use third-party services in connection with MacZones (for example, payment via Paddle), your use of those services is governed by their own terms and we are not responsible for them.

• Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MacZones is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We specifically disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with any particular hardware, operating system version, or other software.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. To the extent any warranty cannot be lawfully excluded, that warranty is limited to the minimum scope and shortest duration permitted by applicable law.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or relating to MacZones or these terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the license in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $20.

In no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, even if we have been advised of the possibility of those damages.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including, in some jurisdictions, liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless JolleyApp, its principals, and its contributors from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your violation of these terms, (b) your misuse of MacZones, or (c) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property or privacy right, in connection with your use of the app.

• You may stop using MacZones at any time by uninstalling it.
• We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially breach these terms (including by attempting to bypass licensing or distributing your key) and, for breaches capable of cure, fail to cure within a reasonable time after we notify you.
• Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law, and these survival rules) will survive.

• We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, call them out in the next release's changelog and on this site.
• Your continued use of MacZones after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you don't agree to a change, your remedy is to stop using the app.

• These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
• Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first contact us in good faith at hello@maczones.app and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
• Subject to your statutory rights and any non-waivable consumer protections in your country of residence, the state and federal courts located in Utah, USA will have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes that aren't resolved informally, and each party submits to that jurisdiction. Claims that qualify may be brought in small claims court.

• Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding MacZones and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
• Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving its intent.
• No waiver. Our failure to enforce a right under these terms is not a waiver of that right.
• Assignment. You may not assign these terms or your license without our prior written consent. We may assign these terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
• Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
• Language. The English version of these terms controls in the event of any conflict with a translation.
